Please share this with friends & help me complete my film

Hello. My name is Patrick. I was enjoying a successful career in film making when I noticed an involuntary shaking in my legs. For a long time the exact cause eluded definition. On May 24th, 2005, however, I was officially diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease), a terminal disease that results in the progressive degeneration of the nerves and muscles that are responsible for voluntary movement, including breathing. It is a fatal and incurable disease. I was 30 years old.

I have chosen to do something with my illness. As you'll see in the video above, I turned the cameras on myself and began to document my journey with ALS on 35mm motion picture film. This challenge has given me a focal point for my energies, and will hopefully inspire others to keep moving through their own adversities. Now, from my hospital bed, I use a special eye gaze computer which helps me to complete my film by the blink of my eyes. I've also been surrounded by some of the most creative friends a guy could wish for, and together our mission is almost complete. But we need YOU to make this happen. Shooting on 35mm (yes, real film!) is beautiful…and expensive. I’ve chosen the perfect music and composers, both of which cost $$ (and they're worth it). Not to mention the final post-production costs that every film needs to play up on the big screen.

In exchange for you becoming a part of my film, I’m offering my heartfelt thanks and some pretty cool goods for your donation and support. Please check out my humble offerings on this site. By supporting my film, you will become a part of my story and key part of a landmark film. Please spread the word through your Facebook friends, fellow Twittererer's, carrier pigeon buddies, co-workers and any and all lovers of life. Thank you. Now let's do this. Together.

"Patrick O'Brien is a master storyteller, whose imagery will sear your psyche. Patrick also has ALS and was brave enough to film his own descent into the belly of the beast. If you watch nothing else today, watch the trailer for his movie and consider making a donation to his foundation. This film has award-winning documentary written all over it!" ~Thomas W. Ohlson

I have partnered my project with RocketHub because of their platform to liberate art & ideas. It's a "keep what is raised" funding mechanism. Whatever is raised can still make the film happen. Thank you for your help.
